For the first chunk of my adult life, I had an on-again, off-again relationship with wellness. I would exercise sometimes, diet others, but never with any consistency.

Then in January 2017, after yet another disappointing post-holiday fight with my work pants, I had had enough. I joined a CrossFit gym, fell in love with it, and made it a regular part of my life.

But six months later, I largely felt and looked the same. Sure, I could lift more, but the pants didn’t feel much better.

That’s when I realized that the twenty-three hours of the day I spent eating, sleeping, and existing mattered more than the one I spent at the gym. Sure, exercise remains important, but it’s only one piece of a larger puzzle.

Determined to do something different this time, I hired a nutrition coach to help me build sustainable eating habits.

By the end of 2017, I had lost thirty-five pounds, was performing even better in the gym, had more energy, and had long since replaced those fussy pants.

We’re all busy…I’m a software developer by day! But if we spend just a little bit more energy on ourselves, we can be our best for everyone else!
